Production Manager-Drapes

Reporting directly to Plant Manager, the Drapes Production Manager is a key member of the manufacturing management team responsible for fabricating and delivery custom-made blinds and shades within the Blinds To Go legendary 48-hour service commitment. The Drapes Production Manager will be responsible for building and managing production teams that produce all soft/fabric window treatments, roman shades, and drapes. He/she must be well versed in fabric cut and sew operations and able to translate this experience and build a production operation aligned with overall business strategy. The Drapes Production Manager must be a strong manager and mentor of people, capable of balancing the operational matrix and the people matrix. He/she must be hands-on, have good communication skills and be a good leader of people.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop a plan and work with product development, engineering, and manufacturing team to establish new drapes production department capable of meeting the company’s 48-hour delivery
- Establish, monitor and continuously improve quality, delivery, material usage, and production efficiency; Lead development of standards and best practices
- Provide day to day management and guidance by reviewing and summarizing operating and production data and trends
- Work with production team to identify improvement projects and root-cause and solve production issues
- Work with product development engineers to introduce new products and styles and to train staff as needed
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- College degree in management, industrial or textile engineering or similar
- 10+ years of work experience in manufacturing production/fabrication environment with a cut and sew operation —preferably in blinds/shades or drapes industry
- Strong interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong people management by demonstrating the ability to coach and mentor others
- Strong project management skills, prior experience setting up production line desirable
- Team-player; able to build relationships, team and work with other cross-functionally
- Hands-on, result-oriented and able to work with autonomy
We will invest 4-6 months to set the new manager up for long-term success at BTG. Actual plan will be customized to the individual but will include rotating into numerous roles within our organization to learn the business (retail and manufacturing) and to develop the important cross-functional relationship and trust needed to successfully grow into this role.
